Die Spieluhr (also known as "The Music Box Bagatelle" in English) is a very delicate and endearing piece that is an excellent addition to any performance as an encore number, but it can also be very useful as a teaching piece (with its exploration of scalar patterns). Joe Natoli transcribed this piece for standard bass accordion because it falls so nicely on the instrument. The choices of Piccolo switch in the right hand and highest register switch possible in the left hand are meant to emphasize the music box and delicate character of this piece. However, one should feel free to experiment with different combinations of register switches to emphasize any coloristic possibilities that best complement one's own style of playing.
