Toccata No. 1,
was
originally published as Toccata in 1974 by Neofonic Music
& Recording Company, owned by Julio Giulietti of the famed Giulietti
Accordion Corporation. The following preface was included with the first
release of Toccata No. 1 by globally renowned Canadian accordionist Joseph
Macerollo:
"Joseph Natoli, born October
20, 1953, is a young man with great musical substance. His remarkable musical
facility is evident in both his natural performance ability and in his
compositional skill.
The TOCCATA, comprising three
sections was composed while studying with Dr. Edward Largent at the Dana
School of Music, Youngstown State University in 1973. For the most part,
the piece exploits the full gamut of technical and dynamic resources of
the Chromatic Free Bassetti accordion while still remaining within traditional
notational bounds. Despite the textural complexity, it still retains a
vocal quality. Mr. Natoli has already performed this bravura piece several
times in Canada and in the United States."
