| Description:
Three Bronchioles (composed by Steve Mobia of San Francisco) is just one of the newly emerging creative works from this author and filmmaker who has only recently formally studied composition. We should all be very enthused that Steve has used the accordion as one of his instruments of choice with which to launch his new compositional career. As is indicated in his biography, Steve decided to study music in 1995 as a way in which to create better sound tracks for his own films. It has always seemed that composers who have the added perspective of composing for films, seem to possess another dimension in creativity that lends greatly to freshness of their purely instrumental works. Such is the case with "Three Bronchioles". We believe you will find this a most intriguing, creative, and provacative work, especially with its own programmatic references to Steve's asthma earlier in life. The accordion has always been seen as a kind of "musical lung", so using the accordion to successfully accomplish this metaphor seems to be quite appropriate. We hope you like Steve's first contribution to the accordion literature and JANPress is anxiously awaiting more. |
