| Description:
JANPress is very proud to announce Animal
Anthology, Land Lovers, written by Valarie
Morris. We can't say enough good things about the moral high ground this
effort takes on all levels. It presents a very important subject, that
of endangered animals, while incorporating it into the context of memorable
little pieces about each animal that will surely have a great impact on
young impressionable minds who learn them. This venue is a stroke of genius
on Valarie's part for getting children to understand early in life that
music is a precious gift as well as all beings put here by nature.

Some thoughts from the book's Foreword:
Land Lovers, one of the three books in our Animal Anthology series, is a collection of tunes that help develop accordion techniques and skills. This book is an excellent source of supplemental music for students and teachers. Teachers will find that the titles and information about each animal motivate their students to play the tunes, which encourages more practice time. The tunes in Land Lovers include a variety of styles, keys (up to two sharps and two flats), meters (2/4, 3/4, and 4/4), articulations, phrasings, dynamics, repeats, and endings. This provides a rich source of material for teaching and learning more about music. An important element in each tune is the special word, written at the beginning of the tune, that describes the tune's mood or style. The word establishes the framework for expressing and interpreting the tune for each animal. You can play the music in Land Lovers using a wide range of tempos. Select the tempo that best suits your current level. Experiment with different register switches to find the sound that best suits each animal. The tunes, which include a variety of musical challenges, are sequenced in progressive order. Playing music encompasses so many skills! Pick the tunes to learn in the order that's best for you.
