Clarinetist, Robert Fitzer, is well-known in the Youngstown, Ohio area for his musical performances with Easy Street Productions, the Youngstown Playhouse, the Warren Chamber Orchestra, and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. After graduating from Poland High School, he attended Northwestern University where he studied with Robert Marcellus (famed clarinetist with the Cleveland Symphony), earning a degree in clarinet performance. He was also a long-time clarinet pupil of Carl Marks, Jr.. Bob started his musical career in an auspicious way -- performing for two years with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, where he played on four Grammy Award-winning recordings under Sir George Solti. he has also been a member of other major orchestras, including Mexico City, Rome, San Antonio, The American Waterways, and Graz, Austria as well as having performed several times in Carnegie Hall.

Bob has performed on numerous soundtracks in Hollywood (most recently, Charles Bronson's "Death Wish V"), and toured internationally with the Broadway show "42nd Street". He joined the Youngstown State University (YSU) clarinet faculty in 1996, and had previously taught at Trinity University and Allegheny College. He is known for his musical productions for young audiences, and has a full studio of private clarinet and saxophone students.

Bob is also producer and co-host of the political affairs radio program "Commentary Cafe with Bill Binning and Bob Fitzer" on Youngstown local NPR station WYSU. Bob is also a very active member of Youngstown based political organizations as well as having served as political consultant and writer for a Youngstown local magazine.

Bob's late parents (J. Robert and Dolores Fitzer) were also noted Youngstown area musicians and long-time members of the Dana School of Music Faculty at YSU.
