"Since true jazz accordion is so rarely recorded today, this is an album that definitely should be heard. First of all, it is a marvel the way Frank expresses himself, playing great jazz lines with his right hand while keeping a moving, uninterrupted bass line going with his left. he does it so smoothly and imaginatively that the casual listener may think they are hearing a quartet instead of a trio. This is accomplished without overdubbing or recording gimmicks of any kind. The independence of the hands is truly a remarkable achievement and one that Frank has worked hard to develop. Frank's style of playing makes the accordion no longer a right hand only instrument. |
